Schmale Maschinenbau GmbH’s innovative SPEEDMAX wire bending machines achieve new, previously unattainable dimensions in performance. The SPEEDMAX S, for example, can produce as many as 200 parts with up to 20 bends each per minute. Schmale uses rotary servo motors in the cyber® power motors series in this innovative machine. These powerful motors were adapted by WITTENSTEIN cyber motor to the customer’s individual requirements, for example by reducing their moment of inertia to a minimum. This provided the starting point for the machine’s high acceleration and extremely short cycle times.
Customized for the application
All in all, around 90 servo motors built by WITTENSTEIN are integrated in the SPEEDMAX S – many of them belonging to the cyber® power motors series. Developed together with Schmale, these motors are precisely attuned to the novel machine concept. They feature a holding brake, multiturn absolute encoder, temperature sensor and angled receptacles. Without these servo motors, the SPEEDMAX S and its outstanding performance data would never have been feasible. WITTENSTEIN alpha gearboxes are installed alongside the motors in some axes.
